Debt With Sky?

I had Sky a few years ago and in March 2006 I phoned to ask when my contract was up? They said its up in May 2006 and to send my notice to cancel in April, which I did and it went of in May all was fine. In July that year I got a letter from them saying I owed them £120 because I cancelled within my contact period. I explained the story they apologised etc and said the fixed the problem.
Last month I receive a letter from a debt collector saying I owe Sky £240, I phone them and they tell my to phone Sky which I did, who said the £120 was an installation charge and another £120 for the price of the equipment as I had cancelled this within the 12 months, Again I explained all and they said this was fine and they would send something out in writing.
Anyway it never came and today another letter from this debt company, threatening legal proceedings in 7 days if I don't clear the balance. Again I phone Sky who say the same thing "I owe £240 because I cancelled within my 12 month contract" I only did what I was told to do by the advisor back in 2006.
Any advice appreciated?

They did exactly the same to me, I went with them jan 2006 and cancelled dec 2006 (30 days notice taking it to 12 months) Been going round in circles with them ever since, taken to ignoring debt collectors letters now, if they decide to take me to court over it (which I would be surprised at) and they win then they can join the back of the queue!!Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

Hiya,
I've had a debt with sky for about £120 before, and I ignored the Debt Collectors letter. In the end I got a postcard through from sky saying that they would write off the debt if I went back to them for 3 months at £9.99. I did that, cancelled it at the end of the 3 months, and haven't heard from them since regarding it. (Apart from the odd mailing trying to get me to subscribe again).
hope this helps!0
