  • Thanks very much they need someone in my area. Lets hope my review was good enough to let me be a mysterydiner. Free food would be awesome!

arrg! If you are going to do mystery shopping, atleast get paid for it! I don't think you realise how much work can be involved in some of these questionnaires. TNS, retail eyes, Gapbuster, GFK/NOP Grassroots etc..- all good companies to work for.

Without mentioning any names, even with these companies, you don't always get paid for doing the restaurant jobs. And the ones you do get 'paid' for is very little anyway.

I am very picky ;) Only choose the ones I either get petrol for or actually get a fee. Still make a decent amount of "pocket money" each month - I don't like companies that pay no fee because they expect us to work for basically nothing. Atleast a fiver + is minimum wage :)
  • yeah none in northwest area either

Thanks for that Muffy - Didn't realise there were so many Mystery shopping companies or that you had to register self assessments for doing it.

Remember also its a form of self employment therefore prepare the start the fun and games of self assessments, no matter how little mystery shopping you do...

You dont get paid for it, you just get reimbursed I think ?

Proper Mystery Shopping companies pay you for doing the job as well as reimbursing you Sarah (unless you wish to chose an assignment that is reimbursement only)

Example: I did a mystery shop for a well know pub/restaurant chain a few nights ago - got twenty squid to spend (as long as I followed the instructions) £5 fee and £3.50 petrol.

I'd really recommend anyone to look at the thread in up your income, it will be very helpful to anyone interested in doing this. You deffo wont earn a living out of it, but its quite a fun job to do.

I am aware that proper mystery shopping companies pay you but this one doesnt. This is what I got from there faqs

    Do I get paid?
The Mystery Dining Company offer a reimbursement for your meal. We do not pay a fee to any of our diners. Our clients determine the maximum reimbursement that they will pay per visit. You will be informed of this when arranging your visit.
