Panic - Laid off - wife pregnant

My friend is a builder and has just been laid off, (text last night) with very little prospect of finding employment in the forseeable future. His wife is 7 months pregnant and has already given up her part time work to claim maternity allowance.
As she is claiming maternity allowance, is he still entitled to claim job seekers ? Also they live in a Council House, would they be entitled to claim Housing Benefit etc ? Any advice would be appreciated as the panic has set in.

Hi - try not to panic.
You would get a better response on the Benefits board and not DFW. Perhaps you could post your request over there?
