Dell computers at Tesco

Dell desktop computers Inspiron 530 are being sold for £398.00 at Tesco. £1.00 cheaper than from Dell. But, they have a higher spec at Tesco, faster processor, larger hard drive. If you need a new computer this is the one. Of course complete with 19" flat screen monitor, keyboard, mouse and some software, don't ask me what. Runs on Windows Vista Home Premium and was very easy to set up.
Go for it.

    I have this, it's great
    Crazy cat lady
  • Yep, I got one of these about three months ago, was about 370 then. Plus it came with a free printer at the time if you ordered it online, plus I got £13 worth of points.

I don't have a card as such as I only ever bought that from them so I need to sort that out.

I don't know if anyone else had the same problems but for about a week I found the laptop ridiculously slow untill I went through and un installed most of the software that came on it - its great now though :D .
  • Out of stock unfortunately.

They had the same PC without the monitor for £100 less last week

I got my daughter a fantastic spec Dell laptop a few weeks ago for £341 including delivery from Dell Outlet. When we built it on the website to the same spec it was £600. She also got a free bag with it that is huge with lots of compartments and very well made, so well worth the money. It was also one of the custom tops with the stripes, which at 18 she thinks is rather funky. Dell outlet is well worth looking at for offers imho and I would definitely use them again.

  • Also try PC World they now sell Dell pc's and laptops.

  • i thought Dell's 'thing' was that they didnt sell via anyone else, so giving you the est price etc..

or are they clearing out old stock, wholesale? wont do themselves any favours if you can get it cheaper elsewhere..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

They changed that policy some time ago. They were losing too much business to the likes of HP, Lenovo etc,

Interestingly, this article appeared earlier this week: Dell's Advice: Buy from the supermarket

They might do, but not at the price Tesco are doing them at!

    Which?

Tesco both online and when I was in store on Thursday had TWO 530 models,
The dual core is nothing special, but instore, they still had the Quad core at effectively the price in the original posting, although not showing as one item - the base unit was 299 and the Monitor was marked as 140 quid, but a sign had 40 quid off if bought together. It was not too clear at first though! Online the base unit is showing as out of stock, LOADS were bought via an offer seen on HotUKDeals recently, and discounts were then to be had plus Quidco, so this is not quite the offer that it was, but still good nonetheless. (I bought mine then, and all in it came in at about £281)

Separate monitor and base unit of course means you are not tied to the 19"screen size, as you can get a 20, 22 or 24" monitor elsewhere depending on what you want, although the 19" for effectively 100 quid is not too bad of you can manage with something that size. 22" monitors can be had from about 130 quid upwards, and might be more the thing if you are wanting to use it for media viewing purposes. Of course if you already have a decent monitor then this way will suit you better too.

This machine is cheap and easy to add extra RAM to, (30 quid or less to upgrade it to 4Mb) and a proper graphics card can be added too.

Although the monitor option won't be available this way!
