oh drbeat. are you a real doctor?
did you actually have any responses to the points in my "epic" thread?

I thought I'd give you an extra 10 minutes...even the above qoute suddenly grew by an extra sentence!

No, if I were a real doctor I would have a disclaimer in my signature. :rotfl:

I never said that "mortgage advisers have played a large part in building up to this crash" can you qoute me on that? What I said was "part of the problem".

There have been posts on here about mortgage advisors refusing to entertain lending more then x 3.5 the salary. In fact I've read from other forums of mortgage advisors being driven to depression with regards to over-lending in order to reach targets. The whole market has been driven by fraud and mis-management of which the financial institutions have a huge part in. When a mortgage advisor appears on this forum indicating that a rate cut will save the day??...well you have to question the sanity of such people.
No I was posting on here because people like you and Carolt were talking out of their !!!!!. [/qoute]

Does the above or your use of "f-ing" not constitute abuse? Or is it a case of do as I say not as I do?

And suggesting that saintly removes his signature?! hello - they are required by the MSE code of conduct to have that signature on there

"Born a Saint, always a Saint!" was what I was refering too.

    Nevermind, makes no odds now.

Hm fair point, but I do try my best not to name-call no matter what I think of someone's posts, and no matter how minor the namecalling, and I really hate to see it on forum threads even if I agree with the sentiment behind the words.

Now I would say that saintly's quote IS abuse, because it's directed at someone (ie you and carol).

My quote was "what would be the point of this f-ing forum"... since the f-ing wasn't directed or associated with a person at all, I personally don't think it is classed as abuse. Well I guess I abused the forum, so, I am sorry Martin... And I suppose it is poor language and I should try not to get so wound up and resort to that kind of thing. I usually don't...

Finally sorry if you don't like my use of the "edit" button ... I only do it if I want to change what I wrote immediately (although editing might take a few minutes) otherwise I'd put it in a new post... and you can see I was just adding to my posts, not changing my words or meanings in retrospect once I see people's reactions to them (which I have seen posters frequently do on MSE). I guess people don't usually refresh the threads so frequently that they see the changes!

thanks for clarifying re signature - that was just one particular point that I thought was a tad unfair since they are just following rules ... but now you have explained what you meant, actually I agree it is a little, well, ...

That's ok, I was just trying inject a little humour into my responses to you - it really was nothing personal. If my reponses have come over rude then please accept my apologies...I just found it quite funny when your posts were changing everytime I tried to qoute you LOL :rotfl:

I'm sure that I'm going to be in for a bashing when brodders & co discover this thread.

i know, you will be ;-) I think they must be having a hard day at work...

the constant bickering just bugs me, I feel like an older sibling (as I am, probably why) and just want everyone to get on ... although, as i said in my post, it's a forum, what would be the point if everyone did get on. and also, i can just sod off if i don't like it, but perversely i never do! i'm more of a bear myself, and agree with your sentiments, but on the other hand we are probably going to be FTBers in the next year or so the shoe will be on the other foot then. I'll probably definitely sod off at that point, because there are always some posters that really don't/won't respect other people's situations and viewpoints and just keep parroting out the same old stuff. maybe i'll get in with the old style crowd then and stock up on vinegar and stardrops...

Going back to the original point.

    Of course he's right.

Nobody wants these to purchase these Mortgage Backed Securites anymore because everybody knows they are toxic.

That's my understanding of why the so called 'credit crunch' started in the first place i.e. everybody suddenly realised what they were actually buying wasn't worth what they were paying for it so the stopped.

So now this [strike]desperate [/strike] wonderful government of ours decideds that the tax payer should buy them just to try and [strike]bribe[/strike] encourage the lenders into start to lend at [strike]ridiculous [/strike] normal levels again.

Going back to the phrase 'normal lending' - could somebody answer me - what is normal about the average house price being 6 times the average wage. How can that be right?

I was "sold" a mortgage 5 times my incomings. But the mortgage ADVISOR didn`t make me. I also read the mortgage offer and knew what I would have to pay when it got to the SVR. So last June I increased my working hours and didin`t book my usual 3 week holiday in the sun just to be on the safe side. I also didn`t waste my money just so I would have a buffer. My fixed rate runs out in Dec so I have had plenty of time to make sure I have the extra. There is no point having a go at mortgage advisors as I`m sure none of them actually had a gun to someones head to make them actually sign on the dotted line of the mortgage offer.
