so now i am to get all the cs money paid to me? and im allowed to keep £20

so does the income support then take some money off me?
im just really worried its going to all be a mess ,i know exactly where i am at the moment with every penny

  • Hi H,
Its not very clear what you mean - do you get Child Support? Is it Incoem Support that you receive or another benefit?
When you say you get to keep £20 from October - is £20 of Child Support?

    hi

    sorry
right i get income support and due to that im allowed to keep £10 a week of child support, paid direct to my bank monthly

it is changing in october where all child support is paid direct to me and im only allowed to keep £20
so do income support take money off me
i can just see their being a delay or it being a mess and im in such a routine with all direct debits etc

    just read my letter again

i have to ring income support and inform them of the amount of child support i get and presumably they will deduct x amount from my income support

i hope i dont have to ring them all the time it seems mad
why couldnt the system have stayed the same where csa paid into my account what i was allowed to keep
  • Hi H
In October the DWP are increasing the amount of Child Maintenance that can be diregarded for the purpose sof Incoem Support - to £20 per week. So yes you will have to tell them how much you get - but you will get to keep all of it and as far as I can tell, your Incoem Support will NOT be reduced.

As is the way benefits - they are likely to ask you to prove how much maintenace you are receving from time to time. Or maybe they will just be able to check directly with CSA -but I doubt it will be that efficient.
So you it looks like you are going to be £10 better off each week, as of October.
    HURRAH!

  • Oo, and one other thing..
If you get Housing or Council Tax Benefit - they will be completley disregarding CM as of October. :D

    hi
    thanks for replying

so if he pays £36 a week the income support would take 16 off me?
  • Yes I beleive so.
But under current rules it would be £26.00
