    Hi

    Who is the third?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • my 17yo son.

and yep, that was net income. When I look at my deductions I cry!

Has my poor maths really let me down? I must have missed something off the list as I do not have any money left each month and that is with himself getting reminders to pay his credit cards! I'll check SOA again

  • Yes, I forgot to add Chrstmas and birthdays whcih were in my original SOA and went towards the total - £700 Christmas and £400 birthdays for the 3 of us.

I'll look up the APRs later tonight and add them.

    Thanks again!

So who pays for what for your 17 year old, clothes, trips out, holidays, spending money, ents? Does he have a job?

I would suggest that one thing you do is each person in the household has a spending diary in which they list ever single spend for a month.

Someone said it helped her identify the latte habit which was cost her £500 per year, but it could be the lunch-time snacks, the odd beer or magazines.

it look like you have a frightening amount of debt and it is not coming down. How much are the loans and cards?

  • My bank loan is about 10k, his about 3-4k
he has over 9k on credit cards and is barely making minimum payments. that's why i gave him a link from here for a 0% balance transfer one. he has applied and seems to have a goodish credit rating considering so should get it. it just depends how much he can transfer.

Would I be right in thinking that paying a card off - even if it's only the £500 one makes more sense than paying the £500 between the 3 of them?

Paying the £500 off the card with the highest interest rate would be the most financially sound approach but clearing a card is more mentally satisfying and makes you feel you've made a definate achievement.

What are the APRs on your loans and credit cards?

What are you cooking from scratch that costs £480 a month? I know exactly what you mean about being a veggie and living with a carnivore. I've just forked out for my lots meat for the next 2/3 months. Happy free ranging outdoor reared animals from a local farmer. £118 for 1/2 a pig and 1/2 a lamb and a carrier bag of bacon. They've filled a freezer and they keep the veggie in me happy. I cook a roast dinner at least once a week and do roast butter nut squash for me or a veggie lasagne whilst the oven is on. I enjoy cooking so don't really see making 2 meals as hassle especially when we'll eat the leftovers for lunch the following day.

Whats shopping for fun? Would you like to borrow a 5 year old? She'll convince you that shopping is not fun. Its a torture session to be completed at the speed of light out of pure necessity.

LOL Totally understand what you mean. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than go shopping with toddlers or teenage daughters!

I didn't choose the column title, that's what was on the spreadsheet!

I never had a problem with my son and shopping. He enjoyed any trips out of the house *if* I tried to make them more exciting - such as counting how many people are wearing blue tops or how many dogs we see on the way.

    I should have been a children's TV presenter ;)
