A&L refusing to honour cheque guarantee card

Hi,
I just wanted to see if anyone had this problem before or has any advice.
I wrote three cheques to my landlord to pay three different week's rent. Each cheque was for £100 (its a £100 guarantee card). Each was dated on a different day. Each was banked within three days. The cheques were signed in front of the landlord and he wrote the guarantee number on the back. The card was fine, not expired or anything, and the signature was my usual signature.
My employer then sent my pay to a wrong account:eek: , so there wasn't enough funds available. A&L have just bounced the three cheques, charging me £75 plus £5 a day interest. I'm trying to get my pay back but its going to take a few weeks.
Any ideas how A&L can not pay guaranteed cheques and what we can do to get them to honour them before my pay arrives?
Thanks a lot!
Ade
