hi, we are planning to get married in cancun next year - but some of our family won't be able to make it (elderly relatives). is it possible to have a civil blessing / renewal of vows when we get back - for those who can't make it and an excuse to wear my dress twice?

yes you can i got married in cyprus and we had to (cypriot law back then) get married in a registery office and then (if we wanted to which we did) get blessed in church (cypriot registery office then 6 months later we got blessed in a British church (i'm a soldier))
just go see your local church and say you just want a blessing done which is the same as getting married but you don't go in the back and sign the book like you would do if actually getting married other than that no difference what so everIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
Yes you can... to be honest you can do what ever you like!!!
We got married in Vegas, and our familys live all over the world! So we had a blessing in turkey (for hubbys mum), we're having one in the UK (next weekend eekk!! for friends and UK relatives) one in florida for my dad and one in australia for my mum!
Phew... we're going to be all wedding'ed out by the end of the year!
But my and hubby are only children and wanted our parents to have a specials day with us, this way they get to be very involved in all the organising and there's no worries about who's sitting next to who etc.....
The woman doing our service in the UK is lovely - PM me if you would like her details...0 -
thanks for your tips - trouble is neither of us are very religious and we were both raised in different religions - so a church blessing is out.
when we planned to get married in Scotland we had considered a humanist ceremony - perhaps we could do a blessing with them?
hot chick i will pm you for more info when i get the chance, many thanks. married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090 -
You can have a civil blessing, anywhere you like conducted by a registarif you look on the registar website, or you can have a church blessing, if that is want you want. I had a church blessing followed by afternoon tea.
Also Grenta Green does renewal over the anvil.0 -
we aren't religious either, our UK ceremoney is going to be at a community centre, outside in thier lovely tree lined grounds if weather permits.
because u are already married you can do absolutly what ever you want, anyone can do the ceremoney, and it can be anywhere u like as formal or casual as u like - there are no rules and you aren't bound by any legislation as the legal marriage has already taken place.
Happy to chat over PM and give u any info I can.0
