I'm constantly going round in circles too. As soon as we had a good thing going and felt we were on our way to good numbers my cat got injured and we had to pay insurance excess as well as other vet fees. Not to forget the extra cost of living thee days. You aren't alone don't worry. I'm just as depressed about it all! I haven't been on a social outing since January to cut money down, it hasn't worked!Just stay on the boards for motivation and support!! Tink xDebt to clear: feels endless...

I'm with you, and I've only been scrimping since March! It is demotivating to feel like you're getting nowhere fast... on my thread, I have listed something I am going to do to cheer me up each month; something I can look forward to; so I'm not tempted to spend money.
As well, if you do get to the point where you say 'stuff it' I'm just going to spend it (Like with the wine!!) then do it as mse as possible, get clubcard points off it, or search online to find money off vouchers, but most of all, don't beat yourself up about it!! You sound as though you have done sooo well.
Different people can afford to pay off more because they earn more - what you'll find is that those people who seem to you to have paid off loads also get down in the mouth and demotivated, because at the end of the day it is still debt; what people pay off is still proportionate to their income!
Set yourself a challenge to make a bit of moneyand then use it to treat yourself?
Or go online and search MSE and other places for FREE days out/activities, and plan them in to cheer yourself up.
Take care Beanie, you'll get there!! xxxPersonal challenge: Do without as much as possible to pay off £12k by 07/2009!!!:T

Im right behind you and glad you posted this thread - i felt like that this week - got motivated last week to join you lot - had my lightbulb moment - have sat for hours doing soa (then went through CCCs website fantastic) - and yesterday the council who we are uptodate with for the first time in ages (yippee) - then tells me they have taken an additional amount via attachment from my husbands wages this month in error so although im already "ahead" with the council im £90 worse off in OH wages this month before we even get it
Its the little things like this that throw me back down and as i said in my thread moaning about council "im off to stick head back down sofa looking for 20ps"
Like you i cant get my head round that if you are saving each month for say for example TV licence but then the next month need to pay for TV licence how are you ever getting ahead - im kinda sitting here thinking ooo you need a pot of money before you even start ??????
Well done on listing your ebay stuff - ive listed before with them but since "pledging" to be a DFW im going round the house with the biggest box you've ever seen - if the listing hasnt taken off it will do towards the end ie in the last 1hour or so - i know if im buying something i never bid until last few minutes to be assured a bargain -
Your not alone and im just glad you posted these comments because i thought it was just me!!! - take care - good luck with Ebay xDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
Hi Beanie
First of all, you make sure you sit in the sun (if you have any) with a good magazine, book, music, tv etc and savour every mouthful of that wine. Enjoy it and don't feel guilty.
We are relatively new to living within our means!!! How silly does that sound for a couple in their forties!! And after the flush of the first month, August has completely thrown us.... I thought I would be minted because I am not driving 50 mile round trip a day to work so would save on petrol and the £15-£20 parking that I spend whilst working. (I work term time only) But instead the money is running through my fingers at a great speed!! The kids need entertaining and even one day out or swimming etc a week for two adds up. Like you I try to put money away each week for things like after school care, school bus pass, cars mot and tax etc. but we seem to be dipping in the whole time!!! By the end of August we need to get OH car tax, bus pass for my teenager and after school club for my DD and we are not on target to have enough put by. That is before you consider new school shoes for both, prescriptions etc. Sorry for so much info... but I just wanted you to see you are not alone. Try and look at the positively in as much as you have over £400 a month to pay off your debts.
Keep going and chin up!

You are definitely not alone, I pay of a sizeable chunk on my cc debts every month yet it gets eaten up by the interest charges accumulated. It can be really disheartening to pay £100 only to clear like £20 or £30.
Last week I broke a tooth, there are no NHS dentists where I live, everything is private and from past experience my last broken tooth cost me £750~£800 after the root canal and porcelain capped tooth. I had to sign up for dental insurance (extra expense to add to every month now, oh the irony!) and now have to wait another 3 months before I can get it dealt with (period before you can claim).
Every month I struggle but some days are better than others. Chin up ducky.
