Matched betting and bankruptcy

Hello again,

It looks like I will be going bankrupt as soon as I can get an appointment. One of my main worries is that I have been doing some matched betting as way to make a little extra money as I am unable to work at the moment. I have probably made about £500 profit over a year including some Quidco. This was long after I stopped using the one card I have a debt on. However I am worried that the OR will look at my recent statements and see all the gambling transactions and not be best pleased! I should be able to prove that I haven't lost any money overall as I have it all on spreadsheets but it doesn't look good does it? :o

  • I don't really have an answer, but feel it would be best to explain at the end of the application, and back it up with spreadsheets when you submit the full paperwork to the OR. I am sure the OR will want to discuss so best to have all the answers ready and be totally honest about it - and be ready to show the other reasons how you became BR. The OR will have heard it all before.

All the very best, it will work out OK.

The silly thing is that without the matched betting I would have no way of paying my bankruptcy fees!
