I posted a thread about council tax yesterday and someone posted a reply (thank you!!) but i desperately need some more help ( i would attach it if i knew how) (thread title council tax problem - advice or chew it over) PS Sorry this problem is no where near as major as some peoples - so i do apologise
There is me thinking we were going in the right direction when bam !!!! phone call from council today to say that my husband's company has paid them another amount under attachment of earnings (even though we are now fully up todate) this means this amount will be taken at end of month from hubbys wages. Now the council are blaming OH company - they said an Attachment Cessation letter was sent to both employer and ourselves dated 25th July (funnily enough yet again we didnt receive ours - we keep NOT receiving post from this particular council) - the council are holding that amount - they can refund it to employer but state that employer wont have enough time to refund it to us in August pay ???? and we will still have to pay September's instalment (by the way the attachment is some £90 more than normal payment) so i have had to leave it that we are now well over paid with council and £90 short in wages on top. I phoned National Debtline and was advised that i am going round in circles with them and should put in a complaint - this wont help the fact we are short of money especially in view of the fact im just starting our own DMP with our creditors and this has messed it up a bit
I would like to know where i can speak to someone on council procedure - is there anyone????
I just feel like we've been "kicked when we are down" so to speak - got my head out of sand to sort the problems out and now want to put it back in
Im off now to stick head down back of sofa to look for more 20p's to join "20p savers club"
PS If you get Summons for Non-Payment of Council Tax - should i have gone and could i have been arrested for not going????
