Rabbit Hutch needs waterproofing - what can I use?

We have recently adopted a rabbit who escaped from his owners a few doors down from us. They don't want him back (poor homeless bunny), so he has mostly been living in our back garden for the last two months. With the winter drawing in, I have decided to get him a hutch (and a run), and now want to make sure it is as weather-proof as possible.
I had a quick look around Homebase today at the wood preserving treatments, but couldn't see anything that was suitable as I haven't got a clue what I'm looking at. Can anyone please help me? I know that the hutch has probably already had a quick dip in some kind of water-proofing prior to buying it, but I want to make sure the job's done properly.
The hutch will be kept outside all of the time, so I need something top quality.
Thanks in advance!

Hi
I used to breed rabbits ages ago, and my ex husband built all our hutches. He used regular felt and nails and sometimes we got some blue tarpaulin. In the winter it can get windy and miserable in the hutch so (prob made it even more miserable now when I think about it), we had a sheet of clear (as much as poss) plastic to drape over the from of the age so the wind didnt get in too much.0 -
We used a old shower curtain over the front. I remember using my sewing machine to make a 'channel' along the bottom hem so that we could put a metal pole through it to weigh it down. Our rabbits were out all day whatever the weather but we used to lock them in and cover them up before dark.0

Thanks silverfoxdude, following your post I have just found a site online that does covers for hutches. Will buy one to put on at night-time to keep bunny draught-free and a bit warmer.0 -
If you run into trouble or just want some more advice there are a suprising number of rabbit owner forums out there, I found the one at Rabbits United very good.
