OR is having a laugh! No he's not.....

I have just received an email from Halifax sharebuilder. Many years ago I opened this and put in small amounts of money and made little, took it out and forgot about it.

The OR today, has cashed in £31.31 worth of Invensys shares and £1.91 worth of Virgin Media........ LOL! Plus the pennies in dividends its given me over the years, its worth a grand total of £47.63! :rotfl: Well, I suppose I have nothing left for him to take! (Apart from about an ISA with about £50, which was something else I neglected to tell him.... I'm not hiding stuff, I promise!!!)

I didn't even tell him about these - I had genuinely forgotten about it as I didn't think I had anything! I guess that Halifax told them perhaps as they were a creditor of mine!

OR tends to reclaim any savings account in full, simply because they are savings rather than current account

I've cashed in £1 premium bonds in the post, when you consider stamp/time/etc, not really worth it but has to be done

Not joking. OR claimed single figure sum from Lil' plus 3 pounds something we had in an ancient joint account

Oh, and NatWest took less than one pound from savings account back to overdrawn current account to reduce debt that tiny bit. Mind you it's a bit like that scam Richard Pryor did in one of the Superman films - siphoning all the rounded-down numbers in peoples' pay packets. The total was a fortune...

Im guessing this is more of a paperwork clearing exercise to just clear up all you BR affairs as mine is the same and my car which was of interest to the OR failed the MOT i called then and said even if i had the money the car was just not worth spending the money on and they still wanted it so saved me having to get it scrapped he he

  • my OR was really nice and told me i could keep the savings with £10.00 in and i could keep my share dividend cheque £32.15, mind you may be account was ok as i didn't have another bank account and i actually had no other money and the benefits system did not want to help, because i was actually looking for a job and missed a sign on for an interview i told them about. Made sure he knew i had borrowed the money to pay for BR.
