DP is due home from work at 5, Ive hardly seen him in the last couple of weeks. Ive made a picnic tea, the idea being we could go to the park with the kids and the dog and have some family time....and its pouring with rain! Any ideas welcome please!

Make a rule that the TV etc all stay off, disconnect the phone for the evening, make it a 'no chores' evening, then have a picnic on the living room floor. After the food, snuggle up in the blankets still on the floor, and play board games as a family.0

Have the picnic in an odd room of the house i.e. not the kitchen/dining room, but on a rug somewhere else. Then perhaps play silly games, or tell stories, each of you telling a line at a time. If your children aren't too young, light some candles, put on some music and transform your chosen room. There is always hide and seek etc. Hope this helps, Di x0

Just what I was going to say silvercharming!
I keep trying to get DH to 'picnic inside' as I think it's a great fun idea, but he thinks I am mad as "we have a perfectly good dining table or trays to eat off our laps"! Maybe if we had littl'uns he might be more keen...The best advice you can give your children: "Take responsibility for your own actions...and always Read the Small Print!"

Inside picnics are great fun.... Son and his friend had one at the weekend, then played on the wii for the added 'run around' effect

Not exactly a picnic, but my Sweetie and I ended up a few weeks ago spending the evening in our (rather large) bathroom with a bottle of G&T, chatting all evening. I know it sounds weird,
, ,but we had a really nice evening...... Toto, something tells me we're not in Kansas anymore......0
