  • DO NOT ENROLL WITH THE BUILDING TRADE SKILLS CENTRE!!! My brother signed up with them months ago and we have now found out trading standards and watchdog are already investigating them and a local MP has informed the relevant government minister to take the matter in hand. So many people have been fooled and you won't be qualified once finished so it's a complete waste of money. I could write an essay on the things that happened to my brother but visit ukplumbersforums.co.uk for more angry posts!

I agree with that, they are cowboys. So many fast tracks are like that. Its a mine field, exercise extreme caution and scrutinise any company you plan to do a fast track with. Make sure the courses they teach are actually relevant. Check out this blog for lots of plumbing info for beginners: Become a Plumber

I went for an assessment there about two years, spent around 2 hours being sold the course had some sort of I.Q test(cant think what the proper term is). I walked away thinking to myself their just salesman at the end of the day.

Maybe we should try to find someone who wasn't accepted after their interview! I doubt it that a single one person has been turned down.
  • Hey everyone! Just another OLCI mug here! I have paid thousands so far on a miss-sold plumbing course, and desperate to get a refund and forget this mess ever happened to me and my fianc!e! I have taken the advice of 'stexposed' which works for all distance training companies and I’m now starting the process of hopefully recovering MY money!
I will keep everyone informed of my actions, and would be grateful if others could keep this thread going as well! We need to stick together!
A few observations, UCLU etc, purposely create accounts on forums acting as happy students, to convince us otherwise., Also if you look at their 'in the news' articles, promoting their good work in the community, the websites they use are self entry, ie. They add their own stories!

In December 2009 my son paid £6000 to Access2Trades for a plumbing course, then in January the company went bust. Fortunately the course was funded through a Barclays Partner finance scheme so we were covered under section 75 of the consumer credit act and it was up to BPF to stand the loss or provide suitable alternative training. BPF appear to have arranged for OLCI to take on the A2T's students. Out of the frying pan and into the fire me thinks - any advice here?

why dig up an old thread
  • Another one here who signed up like a sucker to the Access2 Trade Plumbing course, which subsequently went under and now i'm being forced to do one with OLCI.
I'm absolutely gutted and I'm very very stressed because I don't have the money to pay for something which is worthless. I'm seeing them this weekend and I pray that if i am forced to do the course, it'll be worth it somehow. Any reassurance welcome!
