Paid twice can I reclaim?

Question:
I changed from Chelsea to the Nationwide this year due to my 2 year fix rate coming to an end. We were due to complete on the 31/5/08 but didn't until 16/6/08. Chelsea charged me for the month of June, Nationwide charged me from the 16/6/08. Thus I paid for the last 2 weeks in June twice.
When I contacted Chelsea they claimed my solicitor didn't contact them until 4/6/08 thus the delay until 16/6/08. I did contact my solicitors (via a phone call) in early May informing them of the completion date (31/5/08). Chelsea informed me that due to the fact my mortgage was on a month to month basis they would not refund me the last 2 weeks of June (over £400).
Are Chelsea correct and I cannot claim this money back?
Have my solicitors (Pannoe) cost me money that I can't claim back?
Any help much appreciated

You need to check the terms of you mortgage.
If you don't have it then ask Chelsea for details of the specific clause.
It's possible they are right if those are the terms you signed up to.Have my solicitors (Pannoe) cost me money that I can't claim back?
Possibly.
Have you contacted your solicitor to find out whether you have been told the truth by Chelsea?
Have you asked your solicitor why they delayed?
You need to find what the issue is before you point the finger.0 -
Thanks I will check.
As we signed up for 2 years (24 months) and the June in question was the 25th wouldn't I of had to sign a new agreement with them for them to be able to say I'm on a monthly contract, or am I clutching at straws?0
