I was just commenting to DH at the weekend that we were sat there with our cupboads full of value items but the cats will only ever eat branded cat food....anything else is a false economy as they just don't eat it....what's that saying...
Dogs have owners........Cats have servants!
Think I can see where my money goes!

My OH said when sorting the empty tins for the recycle bin last night that it was funny how we were living on Morrisons value range and the cats have top of the range whiskas!! - as you say, false economy to buy anything else as it just gets thrown away, (no matter how long it stays in the bowl) they look at me as though I am trying to poison them:rolleyes:0 -
Our cat would only eat kitekat fish flavours in jelly, then we took a stray in now she eats Morrisons own and anything else she can pinch off said stray. I had forgotten how fussy she was until we went to the cattery and she said "oh Daisy only eats fish flavour kitekat pouches" and we looked at each other and hubby quickly said yes thats right (apparently he wanted to get his moneys worth out the boarding fees!)0

We spend anything from £50 - £80 a week for 2 adults 1 teenager and a dog but for those of you still struggling to reduce your shopping bill my biggest tip is have a look on the Old Style board here, it has some great tips on meal planning and cheap meals.

You know its really important that you said that and I appreciate that.
Over the last month I have had so many new people that have PMd me regretting posting SOA with responses they have.
I as a relatively "oldie" cringe at the tone in those topics and I think its good that you highlight the fact that food prices have gone up and to a new DFW person we could expect too much.
I have let my budget go up I have children and they still want "nice" things and its food, its my job to provide them and they are cheaper than random trips to local shops.
Maybe sometimes our language in SOA topics should be less hostile and a bit more encouraging, me personally, I hate "too much" it would look so much as "try cutting this back.. " etc etc much more welcoming and less demoralising.
Anyone who wants to jump on what am I saying here go find one and try to read it as you felt that very first day, yes ideas are good and essential you need help but delivery could be much more friendly.
Genuinely people have PMd me and I don't mean the odd one so there is a "silent" problem out there.
Too true & well said rayday
.
I for one have never put my SOA on here for that very reason. I have taken note of comments on other people's SOA's & made changes accordingly which I then note in my diary so peeps can see that I am learning - slowly
I actually dont need complete strangers telling me how to allocate my income
for the best, I know where I need to cut down, it's just that sometimes " I dont wanna
".
We've all got to learn what works best for us as individuals, anyway back to my no spending, much working day now

I bumped into someone in Morrisons this morning (note Morrisons not Sainsbury's, so I am trying!) and she told me she'd dreamed that she'd gone shopping and marmalade had gone up to £8 a jar. Actually, she looked a bit reluctant to go and look in case it hadn't been a dream!0

tyllwyd if I want to have a bare bones shop I go to Sainburys, I am scared of their prices I dare not put hardly anything in.
So I would switch from Netto to Sainsburys for a cheap week!0
