The staff flyer/ newsletter that they put ion the canteen. Its also on our notice board.
  • Has anybody any idea of what might be in this sale? Is having two sales back-to-back somewhat unusual? Does it mean that M&S, like everybody else, is finding it hard to sell stuff at the moment?
I did get the impression that the last sale didn't contain as much stuff -at least for blokes- that 2007's summer sale had in it. Anybody else agree?

In my experience (as a regular shopper rather than as staff) M&S usually have two sales in the summer. The first is a 'pretend' sale with a few bits and bobs from existing ranges (about 70% of which are the ones you thought 'dear god what are they thinking who in their right mind would wear that' when you saw them on the rail - and clearly you were right as it is in the sale in volume) and a whole pile of stuff that, if you're a regular shopper in M&S and know their recent stock you have never, ever seen before.

The second sale tends to be the 'proper' sale with more items from recent ranges. Towards the end of this sale, they will also finally accept that we're not actually getting a summer this year and all the 'high summer' stuff will be practically given away. (And I'm going to be very strict with myself due to the bulging, and unworn, wardrobe of such summer stuff I bought last year!).

Same goes in the winter sales. Don't get excited about the first sale, the second sale is the one to watch!

I love the '£3 no returns' rails at the end ... wow, the adrenelin rush!

I have had some stunning bargains there, ansd can usually re-home the mistakes!

Probably the sandals, swimwear and the linen clothing since it looks like no summer again.
