Panicking that we might be turned down for BR

  • People go BR with a lot less debt, its not just about paying it back, if it was the minimum BR would be a lot higher. Its also about how it affects your life, the stress, desire for a clean slate, stress... I very much doubt you'd be turned down. Its quite rare, and usually when people havent sought legal advice - cccs or CAB. That doesnt mean u follow their advice, it means u know the consequences / responsibilities of BR.

Try not to worry, you'll be ok
Debts incurred through illness and homelessness, starting a degree in September, going bankrupt in November and having a well deserved fresh start in January 2009! Bring on the new year! Interested in thrifty living, and if its green all the better for it! xxx
  • I think everyone who's been through the br route at some point has the same feelings, I think it is all part of the course.

From deciding to file for br and actually doing it is usually a while for most, the br then becomes all consuming, and seems to take over every aspect of life.

I was worried that i hadn't filled the forms in properly (although NDL went through the with me) that they would think I hadn't worked hard enough, that I was reckless with my money, the judge would give me a lecture on how stupid i'd been how i was a waste of space etc etc. Luckily I didn't even have to see the judge

I think its just all part of the process unfortunately.

My debt was relatively low compared to a lot of peoples, but too me it was overwhelming and I just could not keep up with the repayments!

Try not too worry too much (easier said than done), you will feel so much better when you have the BR order in your hand.
