Howard of the Halifax gets canned

Howard (who was a cashier, not a bank manager as I was led to believe) was given a new role as a "brand ambassador", with obviously a much higher salary than a cashier would receive. It's from this role that he's being 'let go'.
Howard also had a cameo appearance in The office and in 2005, he released a cover of You’re the First, the Last, My Everything by Barry White as a charity single peaking at number 13 in the UK charts.
I dare say he'll get a nice leaving package - it wouldn't do for HBOS to have their former poster boy sl@ggling them off in the press.
Good for him, it's alway nice to see an ordinary bloke get on, even if it was 'only' for 9 years (2000 - 2008).
I'm sure there's plenty of work around for him. He's got a very amiable 'media personality'. I hope so at least.0 -
Agreed. I actually quite like the fellow. He was great sending himself up on The Office and, for an ameteur/normal chap thrust into the public domain / lime light, he seems to have coped with it all rather well.I'm not so sure. I thought I read somewhere that he was earning his normal Halifax wage while doing the ads.
I hope he's ok, I wouldn't wish harm on the poor lad.
He's certainly done a lot more with his life - and hopefully his money - than crooning, less-than-a-decade-to-live, wasters like Winehouse and Doherty.
This guy has managed to sing for his supper and have a proper job. Good on you Howard! We wish you well.0 -
I asked someone at the Halifax years ago and yes she did say he was just an ordinary bank clerk at the time.0

Hurrah! I hate the halifax adverts! Thought the big orchestrated ones of the last year seemed a huuuuge waste of money.0

I imagine the banks have reduced their advertising budgets at the moment?
But from what I've seen on TV, the car manufs. are still going at it (pardon the expression
