I want a Top loading washing machine

I have always had Hotpoint top loaders ( 3 in 36 years) and now my washing machine is dying and I can't find a replacement. Front loaders all seem to take hours and the clothes come out really crushed while my top loader does a complete wash in 45 minutes. Can any one help? Do you know of a machine with a quick wash leaving the clothes needing little ironing? Thank you

There's some here, but not done many checks for price comparisons. At least they are still available!

I used to love my Hotpoint top loader, I must have bought it about 30 years ago. Nothing much to go wrong (unlike today's front loading electronic gadget loaded machines!), you could lift the lid and add anything you might have forgotten and I loved to hear the water sloshing about - it made you think the clothes were having a real good wash! Didn't they used to advertise it "with wishy washy paddle action" :rotfl: And there was the fluff catching filter on top of the paddle too - great when you washed the dog's blanket! Today's front loaders use so little water it makes you wonder how they get the clothes clean - but they do seem to come out of my present front loader clean enough.

In a perfect world I would have another top loader but I try to be as "green" and eco-friendly as possible so I'll replace my present front loader with another front loader when the time comes. Have to admit though, the top loader was quicker!

Thank you for your comments. I love my machine for all the same reasons and have checked out appliance planet but most of them have a smaller capacity. Guess I'll have to go with the flow and get a front loader:confused:.
    Thanks again.

If you have a Makro card (or know someone who has), Makro have got a Whirlpool Pro Series 8 top loading washing machine with a loading capacity of 8kg for £411.24 (£349.99 +vat).

Just googled the model and have found it here slightly cheaper.

Thanks klb! This looks more like what I was after and at a better price than most. Think I'll give it a try!

Ogormans.co.uk have the Whirlpool for £399 incl. delivery. That's the best price I can find. I want a top loader as my washer is on the blink and the engineer said that top loaders only have a couple of parts that go wrong and they offer the best reliability and if something does go wrong it's not too expensive to fix.
  • I'd stay clear of Ogormans. I ordered a radio online from them. Their web site promised next day delivery or a phone call if that couldn't be met. Phoned after 2 days of it not arriving, and they said it wouldn't be shipped until the following Monday, take it or leave it, no apologies.
