At lunchtime today, I was looking around the web to see if there were any companies that still had a PSP games console still in stock – I do appreciate that they are in short supply. To my surprise the Argos web site was reporting that they still had stock, with delivery in 2-3 days.
Thinking that I better get in quick, I immediately ordered one along with a game and an accessories pack (ok, I’m a geek!). Through every step of the purchasing process, the web site reported that they were in stock and that they could be delivered within 2-3 days. After entering my delivery and payment details, I confirmed my order. You can imagine my surprise and annoyance when I saw that both the PSP and the accessories pack had gone out of stock. The website seemed happy to confirm my purchase of the game for which I would have no console!
I decided that I should cancel the order, and rang their customer service department. I was greeted with an answer phone saying that I was in a queue, and mentioning how important my custom is to them. After waiting 10 minutes, the phone appeared to be answered and then I was put back in the queue. Another 10 minutes went by, and I was cut off. So much for valuing my custom! I rang again and waited another 10 minutes. After 30 minutes of waiting, I eventually spoke to a person, who said they would cancel the order for me.
Now, several hours later, I have still received no confirmation (by e-mail) that the cancellation has happened.
At this point I should point out that the website still reports the PSP as ‘In Stock’.
This catalogue of incompetence and poor customer service will certainly make me think twice before shopping at Argos again!
I feel so much better after that!!

Organisation and planning are for those who can't handle stress and caffine
