help - party planned but rain may ruin it!!

hi
its my daughter's 21st on Saturday and she wanted a posh frock garden party at my house.
There will be 20-30 people average age 30ish. I am really worried about the weather, we can squeeze them indoors but how do I entertain them??
I have booked a singer/guitarist for the first 2 hours but am stuck beyond that if we are inside.
PLEASE HELP!!!!

  • How about looking at gazebos? Something like this or there are cheaper ones?

  • I have only got space for a 3m x 3m gazebo due to garden layout. I am not sure how many people will fit in that!!
If we have to go indoors I wont know how to entertain that number of people

    Any ideas please???

I'd get a gazebo, as at least it gives you the option of having some people inside and some outside. Also, if the guitarist proves to not be to some folks tastes they may prefer to be where the guitarist isn't iykwim. It gives the opportunity for people to drift off and chat rather than "be entertained". And TBH at most parties don't you just pop on some music and let people mingle? I'd be far more comfortable with that than feeling like people had gone to great lengths to entertain me, but maybe that's just me.

Yeah, I kinda second what 2c1k said, really...don't see any need to "entertain" people as such...I don't really see what it being indoors makes a difference - how were you going to entertain them outdoors?

Personally, I'd have thought you let the singer warble for a couple of hours, put a CD on, provide some drink and nibbles and the rest will take care of itself.

Just make sure you make the inside of the house look a bit "done up" - seems a little lame when you've got a bunch of people stood around all dressed up in somebody's front room...
  • your probably spot on - i will put the gazebo up and then people have a choice - i am having a cocktail bar so i will make the cocktails extra strong and hope everyone lets their hair down!!! :rotfl:

yes thats bothering me too - as the garden was going to be really decorated with drapes, lights, candles, flowers etc.
i have got a big conservatory so I will try and trim that up to match the outside - not sure how!!
