  • Hi, as a result of checking out this site yesterday, I signed up with hoodless brannan and now own shares!! I had signed up with cahoot sharetrade as I'm with cahoot but they cost £12.50 at each end of the trade and HB are only £7 with a brucie bonus of being completely FREE for your first month!

There's more info on the main site. As far as picking winners go, if you find any, please let me know!! (I am just one step on from beginner status!)

thanks sneeky, guess im overly cautious not a good trait for buying and selling shares! when you quote the above prices and say at end of trade..... do you mean at the end of each sale/buy transaction or do you mean at the end of each trade day?

  • Hi Tasha
I've spent the whole day reading about share dealing etc, and it's quite adictive. My advice to you is start small and, if you like, start cautiously.

Basically you pay £7 to the broker when you want to buy. Hang onto the shares as long as you want to, but when you sell, itwill cost you another £7. This means that buying and selling that one bunch of shares will have cost you £14, so you need to make sure that your gain is more than that otherwise it wasn't worth doing. Hope that makes sense! But as I said, the first month is free.

I should mention too that you have to pay 0.5% of the share price as stamp duty, so you'll need to cover that with your profits too.

again thanks... the whole day???? gosh must be addictive.....what's the best places to look? would the stamp duty be taken automatically by hoodless and brennan or would i have to pay that separately somewhere else?
