I'm sure it will all work out right in the end, Skintchick. It's very possible also that one of your colleagues will start looking for (and get) another job fairly soon, their fear will be that they will be the one to go under the last in first out policy. We all have our own paranoias eh?
Hugs anyway, just stay positive.

Hello SkintChick
First let me say I’m sorry to hear you had such an awful meeting. These bullyboy types of people who lack even basic leadership qualities, cowering behind their positions of authority making people unhappy and insecure and hanging onto their own jobs by their grovelling fingernails are really not worth working for. Grrrrrrrrr....
I would suggest you update your CV, log into and register with some of the many on-line employment companies, register with your local town or city commericial employment offices and have a chat to one or two of the staff in person. In other words, gather a lot of information about opportunities, about who is taking on staff, about possible changes of career and so on. You never know…you may be pleasantly surprised…
Such an exercise will put you back in control and improve your morale and self-esteem rather than the de-moralising wait for the axe to possibly fall.
Hope this helps….

Sorry to hear about your dilemma, i would definitely start looking around for jobs(just in case).
Starting your own business isn't as scary as you think, if you need any help or advice then please feel free to PM me.
You could even get a part time job to guarantee the bill get paid and work part time freelancing.

You could look at this from a different angle, and it may sound stupid but use it to your advantage.
You are experienced in your field? You back your own ability?
Show your boss how good you are, perhaps when you have consistently hit your new target ask for a pay rise, perhaps so its performance related.
Show willing and aptitude and perhaps you can turn a negative into a positive.
Just in case that doesn't work, get your CV up to date, cos I am sure a person of your caliber would be wanted elsewhere.
