    Hello

What a horrible customer care advisor you got through to  . To be honest it all depends on who is on the other end of the phone when you call. You can get some that are really helpful and sympathetic and others that just do not care about their customers changing situation.

Never mind all is not lost ;) . I would advise that you call them again, if you cant bear the thought of going through that again then try this site for a letter template and write to them.

BTW is the card interest free? if you have good credit try changing it for a 0% card to reduce monthly payments and give yourself more time. Check out the credit card boards on MSE for more advise on the best card to choose.

Good luck and keep us posted with your progress.

    Sorry

Yes you can offer a token gesture per month, make sure that it does not over commit you and get the agreement in writing.

    Keep us posted.

Entering this sort of voluntary arrangement will effect your credit rating and access to good value loans though. Make sure this is really what you want to do first.

    It just does!

Is there a family member who could lend you £1000 until you go back to work? That way you can carry on payments as normal.
