Folding tables

Hi,
Im after a large folding table, like the ones you get in village halls.
Our family is getting bigger and we seem to be having more and more people coming for meals and we just dont have the space for a large table to be up all the time, but a folding one would be just teh trick, tehn we can store it in the shead.

I know that you can hire them if it was for a one-off occasion (look in your Yellow pages under 'Catering Eqpt Hire')

Would it work for you to get a 'table top' cut out of MDF and sit it on top of your normal table. You can halve the table top for storage and fix catches on for re-assembly.

I've done this before and seated 10 around a 6 table  :-/
The MDF needs to be fairly thick though.

How about a gateleg folding table from Ikea? I know it isn't exactly what you want, but they can be reasonably priced.

Just done a search on Viking Direct - they have the sort of thing you want - have a look.

The prices seem to be around £70-£80 for the ones I saw.

Ok, its not ideal, but when we get all the family together, we have used the wallpapering table.  My uncle has fixed a couple of extra legs to support the middle, and covered with a tablecloth who would know!
