Hi all,
Did ask something like this before but not too technically minded ((!!?)) so be gentle on technical terms!
Old emplyers soon to cut my web connection at home-are there any 'pay as you go' monthly schemes?? Seem to remember someone said you can buy a 'dongle' ?? whatever that is?? I'm happy with a 1/2 gig connection-don't download much at all (maybe 1 film a month if that-mainly just browse)...any cheap suggestions??

I've just got a dongle and I absolutely love it.
It cost me £50 for the dongle itself with 3 and then you can choose to top up £10, £15 or £25. I got £15 and it will easily last me for the month. Each top up only lasts for 30 days so you may want to only use £10 to start to see how much web usage you need. I use it a lot (love mse!!!). Using the dongle also means I can connect whenever and wherever I want using my laptop. The way it works is it taps into the mobile network so coverage is normally great anywhere. I get better speed using this than i did my conventional internet/wireless service which I was paying even more for!!
There may be other packages which suit so do shop around...DFW 228 LONG H 68

I have 3 for mine and I have it on pay monthly, in last 6 months I've not gone over my allowance of 3mb and costs 15.00 a month.
If you can get pay monthly you don't have to buy the dongle thingie.BSC No: 186 There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Unless someone's nicked the candle !

Hi DM
I have been on 3 for several months now and find that £10 pm for 1GB is more than adequate this lasts for 30 days If you download a lot the £15 gives you 3GB and if like me you use it on a lap top you are totaly mobile

My credit ratings shot to h*ll, but I got one on 18 month contract. Have no landline so was the only way for me. It should read 3GB not mb sorry. That and my mobile cost 35.00 per month. As no landline mobile is essential for kids school etc...BSC No: 186 There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Unless someone's nicked the candle !

Hi, I have a pay as you go mobile internet. I bought the Dongle from Three and i top it each month the same way you would with a mobile phone. I love it. And not had too many problems with it. I would never go back to landline internet now. I top mine up with 10.00 a month and it is more than enough for me. If you do a lot of downloads then the 15.00 or 25.00 option maybe better for you. You can buy them at most of the phone shops on the high street. No contract of course as it is PAYGO. Good luck xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxNight Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

...dongle user...
Ive found the black version with a green line to be a bit feeble (i had to take 2 back) but im using 1 now which is fine.
Argos now has USB stick dongles (although theyve recently been completely out of stock because theyre the smallest version so far) which mean no wires at all and I think theyre a bit more hardy if u move around with a laptop.
I use £10 a month and have only ever gone over it when downloading multiple tv programmes and so on.
You can go on pay as you go, or contract. Pay as you go = no credit check at all. Just buy the dongle (modem which connects) it'll contain a sim card the same as a mobile phone. Insert it and then plug the dongle into your computer or laptop.
At the same time as buying the dongle, ask for a 3 £10 top up voucher.
When you plug in the dongle, it will automatically install... very simple.
Depending on which version you buy the screen that comes up varies, but all youve got to do is click "connect" and go to www.three.co.uk Go to "Log into my 3" and on the right it'll ask you for the sim cards mobile number and voucher number. Enter it.
You are now online!

Hi all...........well think I've made my mind up-dongle it is! Even cheapest o2 deal (which I saw on another thread on here allowed a discharged BR to take it up) on contract is £7-50PCM ( i am on 02 payg customer) + line rental so the dongle at £40 from play.com seems a great idea!
Now scouring web for cheap/refurbed laptops.......as my spec not too high hope to get one under £200 as only really will be used for browsing, etc...anything needing lots of RAM/hard drive (only thing i do is copy/burn dvds for friends) can use old base unit...
Again-thanks all!0
