At least you have made a start.... it sounds to me like you need to read some of the "newcomer" threads to help you get started. They tell you about the national debtline, pay plan or CCCS all organisation that can help you make affordable arrangements with creditors. There are also links so you can write up your SOA - statement of affairs. Look at some of the others for examples, you will probably find you are not as alone in this as you currently feel.florence2000 wrote: »HI HOPING DESPERATLY FOR HELP .MY PARTNER LEFT US (MID LIFE CRISIS I SUSPECT!!)SO FOR MEAN TIME CURRENTLY ON INCOME SUPPORT WHILE RE TRAINING AND LIVING BACK HOME WITH MY FANTASTIC MUM (AND MY SON) .MY DEBT IS 12,000 AND I PAY APPROX £200 PER MONTH, I PAY £150 ON A 7,000 LOAN ,£25 ON VIRGIN CREDIT CARD AMMOUNT OF 3,400 ON IT, AND £30 ON BARCLEYCARD AMMOUNT 1,200 ON CARD.I can not afford this but do not want my debt to increase, reasonably i can afford to pay 100 back a month do i need an IVA or what?? i have no idea where to start or what do .THE STRESS OF IT IS REALLY GETTING TO ME MAKING ME WANT TO SHOP !!WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT I MUST NOT DO!! I joined less than a month ago - I have made £40 at a car boot, £63 selling stuff to friends, £10 on a review, and £65 on quidco, £25 for attending a holiday seminar, a cheap holiday..... Oh and I've paid some money off my debts. Even prior to joining this site, by reading Martin's book I probably saved £8K in interest charges, gas and electricity switching, reduced home insurance etc... There are a lot of good threads on here, take the time to read them and find what works for you.
I've joined the make £10 a day in August challenge. I have signed up to 8 NSDs (no spend days) in August (as I am a recovering spendaholic and traditionally went to the shop every day) and if you look at the finished baskets thread - you will see that I have been finding low cost ways of providing Christmas, Birthday, Get Well and Thank You presents to others. It is do-able even if I did feel wobbly earlier today!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

So when are you going to post your statement of affairs or let us know some more progress?
