headboard sizes

I need a question answered

I am about to buy a headbord that i like but
can you tell me is there a difference in double and king size headboards is it there overall width thats different or is the places where its fixed to a bed in a different place as well,i maybe wrong but i think you can fit a king size headboard to a double bed?Its just the overall width of head board is different can you confirm this.
I just need to know if a double and kingsize headboard where its fixed to bed is in same place as i would be fitting a king size one to a double bed and im pretty sure its just the overall width thats different but as dont have a king size headboard i cant tell.
