Ideas for a foodie hamper for crimbo

Morning all

I brought my dad The Levi Roots cookbook for xmas and was thinking I might put it in a foodie hamper, anyone got any good ideas of what else I could put in it?! My dad loves cooking (and is veggie)

Any ideas would be appreciated!

You could try looking through some of the recipes to see which ones you think he would go for first. Then put some of those ingredients in the hamper.

Does he have a favourite shop that he likes to go in - how about a gift voucher for it?

Can you think of one or two smallish type gadgets that he hasn't got and include them in the hamper. Mini whisks? Kitchen timer? Hand-held thingy for juice extracting?

    Hi loopyloulou,

There's an index on the Special Occasions and Celebrations board for threads on food hampers that might give you some inspiration.

How about some marinades, flavoured olive oils (such as chilli infused oil or basil infused oil) or some preserves?

Obviously you'd need some Reggae Reggae sauce in there too! Maybe some spices, chillies?

  • If you have an asda near you they stock alot of caribbean ingredients.( Well one near me does ;) )

I would say a tin of coconut milk, nutmeg, Tin of akee, Basmati rice. Dried Beans such as kidney beans of mung beans. At least that would be basics to go with the levi roots book.

As HypnoNu said a bottle of Reggae Reggae sauce
and Levo roots has 2 other sauces out.. Love apple ( which is my favorite ) and Fiery guava ( I have but havent tried)

Top that off with a reggae cd and he should be set :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
If you have a B&M store nearby you can get loads of cheap oils and spices from there. Just make sure they are in date!

Lakeland have some really cute brightly coloured knives at the moment:

and I'd suggest writing out some recipes on nice card as well.
Maybe a little bag of rice, some Jamaican jerk seasoning, and some jars of roasted red peppers/sunblush toms?
