  • Can someone tell me if you have to put any credit on these? I read the T & C's but couldn't work it out. I have a phone for my son but it does not have a SIM card in it-I don't want to put any credit on it, I just want to be able to phone him. Thanks for any help you can give.

    They are activated as soon as you put them in your phone. You do not need to apply any credit to receive calls. However, they will become inactive after 6 months if you fail to make a chargeable call within the previous 6 months.

    Obviously you need to put some credit on them before you can make a chargeable call.

    Minimum top up charge is £10.

    So with upto 4 currently on offer, you could receive calls for upto 2 years (don't put them all in the phone on the day you get them though!) Your son will have a new number every 6 months though.

    With the frequency that O2 offer these free sims, and you being happy that your son has a different phone number every six months, you can do this for free for ever (well until they stop giving away free sims)
