sorry if this is in wrong place but they have a fire wire cable in there new catalogue advertised at £4.99 but when going to the tills they seid it was £14.99 do they have to sell it at the price shown or can they just change there prices like that. and even the books on the display stand was all showing £4.99 no white lables they usally stick on the books

To form a contract an offer and acceptance of that offer is required:
legally an advertisement is an invitation to invite offers.So when you go to buy you are infact making an offer and unless the other party accepts that offer there is no contract.
So I think they do not have to sell at the display price.However most firms as a matter of goodwill would consider letting it go at the cheaper price.0
