I clearly said that emergency leave pay is discretionary.
For qualifying employees, sick pay is obligatory.
Discrimination legislation bites regardless of dismissal.
An employer who refuses leave and then disciplines or dismisses an employee because of attendance issues, which are directly related to an emergency, like a burst water main/ gas leak/ fire/ burglary etc..., skates on thin ice.0
