Good value shampoo/conditioners for coloured hair?

Can anyone recommend reasonably priced shampoos and conditioners for coloured hair?

In my young and foolish days I splashed out on Paul Mitchell products, which are about £10-12 on ebay - eek!

I'm now using Alberto Balsam strawberries and cream, which is OK, but have just splashed out on a foxy new hair colour at a fancy salon, and want to preserve it for as long as possible.

You really need to buy salon shampoo/conditioner, all the shop bought ones really do not give the same effect, its false economy to buy cheap. I buy the Kerastase products, £14 for the shampoo and £16 conditioner they really are excellent. Slightly cheaper are the Tigi range they are very good
    as well.

I have coloured hair which is very dry also. I tried loads of the expensive shampoos and my hairdresser told me about elvive (the red bottle). She said it works just aswell as any of the expensive brands and she is right it helps to maintain the colour as it fades with some shampoos but, it also keeps it in great condition. Sometimes boots have it on three for two.

I love Kerastase but it is just so expensive. I have been using MOP c-system and really like it. I think it is about £15 for a 1l bottle from Ebay which lasts me about 9-10 months. There is a hydrating conditioner and shampoo which is good but quite rich so better if you have thick hair. I have been using the clean shampoo and moisture complex conditioner which is better for fine hair but I have ordered the hydrating conditioner to use with the clean shampoo and I will just use a bit less so it doesn't weigh my hair down too much!

I like VO5 and its usually on offer somewhere!

I did notice that Dove leave-in conditioner helped very well too, but I don't think they produce it anymore :(

I use the John Freida range, I cannot remember the name of the particular one but its purple and is designed for died hair. And its amazing! I have never stayed this bright blonde, this long after having my hair coloured!

When I saw my hairdresser he was shocked how light it was still looking, as it tends to dull by this time :)

  • thanks everyone.

I've got some Elvive to tide me over until I can sell another batch of gubbins on ebay.

I got about £70 in Paypal but that is going towards a year's car tax.
