If you have a good credit rating, see if you can get a Capital 1 card. which has 0% until Jan 07.

Then transfer the money to say an Egg Money card earning 4% interest on positive balances.

If you need it you can then transfer the money to a current account from Egg online.

If you haven't done so already, worth getting yourself a nationwide current account and visa card. You will then save yourself 2.75% on all foreign cash withdrawls and purchases versus most banks. It also works out much cheaper than bureau de change or travellers cheques.

    Have a great trip.

So i wont get charged for the money i use on the capital 1 credit card until 2007? as i will probably be spending £3000 max on it and pay it off when i getback its just if my savings run dry i have a back up which i wont get charged for i am def getting the nationwide current account as well to store all my money in there so if i transferred a couple of thousand from the capital 1 to the egg card i will be earning interest and money from it?

    Incorrect.

Balance transfers are interest free but you only get interest free on purchases for 3 months.

You will also have to pay a 2% fee.

So if you got a limit of £3000 and transferred it to an Egg money card you would be charged a fee of £60.

You will earn £10 a month in interest from Egg on the money until you use it.

At any time you could then transfer the money from your Egg account to your Nationwide account online.

You will start paying interest at 14.9% on the Capital 1 money from January 2007 though.

    Hope that makes sense.

Thats good thanks guys but i am only 19 and you have to be 21 or 25 to get this card very annoying but someone said the halifax card is just as good with 0% for 12 months on balance transfers i been accepted for that with a withdrawl of £2100 and a 2% charge for that is that the best i will get atm?
