we should have someone like you in each DFW household - I'm actually intimidated by people coming to the door (thankfully not happened for ages as OH sorted most of his debts out) dont have guts to argue back - will pass the letter through the letter box telling em to sod off lol

Trust me, I was one of those that used to cr*p themselves when these sort of letters were arriving at my door.

However, I found this website, and the forums in it. The help, info and moral support I got from the posters on here helped me realise that most DCA are chancers that prey on the weak and uninformed.

I feel I owe it to the posters that helped me to pass on the knowledge they gave me. It feels great to argue from a position of strength!!:j

totally agree with finito let them waste money its not your problem, that letter is legally binding so send it to any of the companies if your husband has anymore "pop up". If they call after that letter just phone the police and have them removed simple as that, and then claim for harrassment as well.

All DCAs i have dealt with thus far are at best incompetant, cant spell any better than me either!

All on here there is a telephone harrassment letter to send to creditors to stop ringing, the sooner they realised your no pushover they move on to someone else, let hope they have been on here too!
  • ok westcot never called me back (suprise suprise) so i rang therm and they have said i have to prove i have paid the debt (as someone has already mentioned on here so was expecting it) They said they want a bank statement and dates etc. Now im a real pain in the !!!! - I dont recieve bank statements, i bank online, i can not print one off - dont have access to a printer. SO . .

Could i put on the letter that im already sending the following:

Furthermore, The office has been informed numberous times that this debt has been repaid in full to Orange on the 07/06/2008. The reference number for this payment is *****. I have been told by the office that I must prove to Wescot that I have paid the debt by bank statement. I do not receive bank statements as I bank online and have no intention of wasting my valuable time in chasing this any further when I have given you the reference number and you may contact orange to verify. Any more action by Wescot will be deemed as harassment and will be forwarded onto a solicitor for legal action.

or am i just extracting the urione slightly. At end of the day, they can not take any more action as it has been paid and if they do send someone out i will just call the police so can i not tell them to do their own leg work?

Why not turn the tables and ask them for proof you owe the debt?

Always a letter, send recorded delivery and do not sign the letter only print as there has been instances of dca's fraudulently copying signatures on to credit agreements.

    oooo cheeky so and so's

ok, how is this one now, any better?

Furthermore, The office has been informed that this debt has been repaid in full to Orange plc and is no longer outstanding. The reference number for this payment is *****. I have been told by the office that I must prove to Wescot that I have paid the debt. I will not be wasting my valuable time on this non-existent debt so I would therefore like to put to Wescot that you provided proof that I indeed owe the debt that you are chasing.

I am certain you will not gain proof that I owe this debt any longer so any further action by Wescot will be deemed as harassment and will be forwarded to my solicitor for legal action.

Glad you told me about the signature - left space for him to sign it lol

Did your OH ever receive a notice of consignment letter? This basically informs you that they are now chasing the debt etc

    Sounds good to me.
Where you have written about going to solicitors also put something along these lines.....
I will also be reporting you to Trading Standards, The Office of Fair Trading and any other organisation that I see fit.

He had a letter from Orange saying there was an outstanding debt, we didnt have funds available so waited till pay day until we paid it off. (although it was almost a month before we was able to pay the debt off from recieving the letter) I called orange and said that was what we was doing.

But then just after we paid it we had a letter from wescot saying we owe this money blah blah blah so called them n said - actually, we dont.

not heard anything from them since until today when i got a door step collection letter.

It is an old debt from orange - we moved house and all letters were going to the old house which is unoccupied at the moment and the LL wont forward any letters but we figured we've been in new house a year so there shouldnt be any letters going to old address of any importance

They have tried to call my OH but he now has a work phone so he isnt supposed to take personal calls only if its an emergency so he has been ignoring them - he works long hours so by time he does get round to ringing them they are shut - ive called them but they just listen to what i say and then say "yeah well we cant talk to you" which is fair enough but if its already been repaid then they shouldnt really be talking to either of us.
