Worth using IFA for small AVC?

Hello everyone, this is my first post.
I will be eligible for retirement from the civil service in 2 years. I will have 30 years index linked pension and also a small pension from my AVCs (about £30,000 in the pot).
Is it worth seeking out advice from an IFA for the AVCs or would most consider the amount too small to deal with?
Thank you in advance for any help.

In my experience, an AVC pot of that size is not so small!
Remember when using an IFA check out their fees and get a quote from your scheme for comparison purposes.

That's more like an average or above average size. If you're going to be buying an annuity or two with it then you should definitely use an IFA to get the best rates. The commission will pay for the IFA service.
You may want to consider using income drawdown, otherwise known as an unsecured pension, instead since your civil service pension seems likely to provide you with sufficient guaranteed income. That leaves you more able to accept the ups and downs of the income drawdown approach.0 -
Thank you both for the quick replies, IFA it is then.0
