Nationwide Rates

I have just been on the phone to Nationwide to apply for a 2 year fixed rate. They said that they couldn't give me a quote today as it would be invalid due to their rates increasing tomorrow.
Does this sound right or am I being given the brush off?

Thanks for the reply JB.
I know that the rates are increasing tomorrow but my question was really more to do with the comment about not being able to give me a quote today. Do they want my business or not?
Any thoughts?0 -
They want your business tomorrow, yes.0

trouble is you need to see a full quote/ illustration ( KFI) before progressing to application - and will only reserve product on receipt of an completed application-
perhaps their systems mean they have no way of getting the full quote to you / taking a full application from you within that time
If you really want one of these products - can you go to a branch or deal with a broker that could do it all today - ( involves providing & agreeing disclosure/ fee terms, factfinding and research - if required , getting a kfi to you - perhaps faxed/ emailed , completing a full application and take to processing / place electronically application by 5pm)
BTW - sorry don't ask meAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
Thanks for the comments.
My partner has just been into a Nationwide branch and reserved the deal we were after. I suppose it proves that the phone and internet aren't necessarily quicker than face to face contact!0 -

We did the same thing yeaterday as our tracker ends this month. We went in on the off chance we could speak to someone and we could, at twenty to 5.We were told that the rates were going up and we had just made it.We didn't even know they were ending so it was a blessing.
We got a 2 year fixed for 4.79%.We didn't pay any fees as we only owe 44,000 and the benefit of £4 less a month on what we pay now didn't seem to justify £380 fees.0 -
Have the rates went up? I booked a 5 year fixed yesterday rate 4.69% but it looks to be the same on their web site today. £199 reservation fee also stated?0

4.79% now, not usre how much they all changed by, 2yr fix up 0.2% I think, maybe same for 3yrs, but 5 and 10yr only up by 0.1% I think on fixed rates0
