W98Se frequently refuses to shut down, if I keep my finger on the power button it will, then it has to do a scan.
Could it be a programme that is causing it, or something in the settings, I read somewhere that it could be to do with the power settings.

Disable fast shutdown. To disable fast shutdown, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Information.
b. On the Tools menu, click System Configuration Utility.
c. On the General tab, click Advanced.
d. Click to select the Disable Fast Shutdown check box, click OK, and then click OK.
Do the opposite Enable it0 -
Just had a look it is already disabled.0

You could try installing this software patch, there were know issues with Win98 shuting down, hence the release of a shutdown patch.

Well, I have uncrossed them it didn't work for me.
Every time I tried to close it down, it did a restart, both with the Start/Shut down buttons and by pressing the start button.
I guess I will just put up with it now.0
