What's the deal?
Current affairs magazine, The Week is available on a six copy trial basis from The Magazine Group, this would cost you £14.10 in the shops.
The Week is a magazine which condenses all the week's news into one read - handy if you don't always get a chance to read the papers.
The Catch...
You need to give your direct debit details to subscribe. However, cancel before you receive the 6th free issue and you won't be charged. If you don't cancel you'll start paying the full subscription price. So if you're just doing it for the freebie, make sure you DIARISE THE CANCELLATION DATE.
Make a possible extra £5.80 on top
Even better, click through a cashback site, such as Topcashback when you book and you’ve a chance of making £5.80 cashback on top.
This cashback isn’t guaranteed however, as cashback sites don't always let you combine two offers. Cashback sites are specialist websites that list retailers and product providers. They get paid by the retailers if you click through them, but importantly they then give some or all of this cash to you (provided you've registered which is free).
If you're a first time cashback site user, please do read the full Top Cashback Sites article for a full explanation of the pros and cons.

totally agree. If you must have mag. subscription - this is the one to go for. I found a copy at my friend's house in London. Great read and worth every penny. I've been meaning to subscribe and this is the opportunityJust changing my signature here !!:D0

You can also get the £5.80 through Quidco - or at least try! Magazine Group have increased cashback to £5.80 through there.0

I went through Quidco a month or two back and signed up for the free issues of The Week. My cashback was declined and I only received one copy of The Week...don't know why..

When you say diarise the cancellation date do you mean cancel before the last magazine arrives as mentioned or do they actually give time limit in which to cancel?
I'm guessing you contact The Week to cancel. Is that right?0 -

You'll receive an order confirmation email which will include details of when your first Direct Debit is due.
Etch this date in a calandar, and probably two weeks before it, if you only want the trial, contact The Week to cancel. Also do a daily check on your bank account around this date, just in case the Direct Debit is still deducted. If it is, your bank will be able to recall it.0 -
Hi, I'm new and this is my first post so please advise if I'm not correct in my posting;)
A few weeks ago I signed up to this sort of thing and was told I could get 3 x mags of choice (I chose Grazia & Top Sante) for 1 pound. Thereafter if I chose to continue I would pay the normal subscription. I was told that I would get 3 communications clearly explaining how to cancel. Now, so far I've received 3 x Grazia and No communication from the promotion company, no details on how to cancel, etc and am now concerned that I can't stop it. Tomorrow I'm going to cancel Direct Debit with bank, but am not sure if it's too late.
Any advice would be welcomed on how to sort this and it may or not concern your original post?
Cheers (and be gentle with feedback!):A0 -
Hi caprighia101 and welcome!
I'd suggest you read the terms & conditions from wherever you discovered this offer. I'd also suggest you contact both Grazia & Top Sante and see if you can ask them to cancel your subscription. If it's just a trial offer you should/might be able to cancel without having to go to your bank to cancel the Direct Debit.
It may also be a good idea to go to your bank anyway, as you have already said you'd do, to cancel the Direct Debit.
Good luck!0 -
Hi,
Thanks for your help. I was rather foolish and signed up to this from a random phone call, not sure how I got onto the list and am regretting it! I have been on the web and identified the supplier and have mailed them through their website and have also cancelled direct debit! Now I ask myself was it ever worth it!?
Thanks again, you've made me very welcome and I'll definitely post again soon.
