Hi. I’m selling up and moving abroad soon. Due to various reasons, I’m out of work, busy house doctoring, and rapidly running out of funds.

What’s my best route for some dosh, which I can easily repay on selling the house?

The options to me seem to be 1) increasing my Nationwide overdraft limit or 2) credit cards.

Until you are sure that you have a buyer any kind of borrowing is very risky.

Luckily I live in an area where houses are still selling, usually within a week or so.
  • You may be lucky in agreeing a sale - the problem seems to be whether your buyer can get a mortgage.

No, you’re talking about offers. I meant actually selling, with buyers moving in as normal.

You shouldn’t believe everything you see in the papers and on the TV.

you will be lucky to get a credit card with no income, i would guess your chances for getting one are slim to none unless you already have one.

Is your mortgage flexible? Does it allow you to increase the loan?

Hi. Yes, I already have the cards, and in my case being out of work doesn’t mean no income at all, but it is limited. My spouse is in work and earning,

    The mortgage is paid off.
