Smelly Microfibre Cloths

I have 2 relatively new microfibre cloths, which are great. However, they really smell awful after being used. I have put them through the washing machine, but they still smell sour and make my hands smell nasty after I have used them.
Can anyone help me in how to clean my cloths and make them sweet smelling again?
Thanks,
Di x

I had this problem with smelly gym stuff due to it lying damp and the advice was to use bicarb of soda in the wash (with a bit of washing powder), use white vinegar for the rinse and try to line dry or air dry. Also don't allow to lie around wet, make sure you hang them to air. Might work for the cloths too? Failing all else a soak in boiling water with a drop of bleach works on my kitchen cloth (going strong for 2years now

I try and pop my cloths in the washing machine very frequently. If they are particularly smelly then I pour a kettleful of boiling water on them and leave to soak for a while . This seems to kill off most nasties. I've had some of mine for ages. Keep a drawer full so I can grab a clean one whenever needed. The cloths smells then you're not cleaning with it you are spreading germs around!!
I agree with previous poster about not leaving them too wet and rinse well after use and hang up if possible. I run my washing machine most days and there's usually 2 or 3 cloths in there each time

I wash mine in anti-bacterial hand wash. Stops the smell almost straight away.0

I also have this anti bacterial, odour neutralising hand wash (and it is cheap, from Asda).
As soon as I notice that some of them are smelly, I squirt a bit of the handwash on it, and wash it in the sink. Really works for me (I think it is this "odour neutralising" bit in the was that does it).0 -
I boil my dishcloths in a pan or microwave (dont leave unnatended)0

Like everyone else I let mine dry between uses and have never had this problem. When you wash make sure you don't use conditioner. I always wash mine with wash balls as they leave no soap residue in them.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0
