Mortgage Payment Protection

I am currently a stay at home mum & my husband works full time. Im reviewing our payment protection as we currently have it with the same place we have our mortgage.
My question is, do I just get a quote for my husband as I am not working or do I get quotes for us both? We currently have a joint policy, but we got this when I was working full time. Im a bit worried if we dont get a joint cover (or if they dont offer joint cover will they accept 2 seperate policies?), as if I fall ill my husband may have to take time off work to care for the children - or will this not be covered anyway under my policy?
Im a bit confused, I dont want to pay for a product for me if it wont pay out anything if Im ill (obviously I wouldnt bother getting unemployment cover for me), but I dont want to risk no payment at all if something happens to me?
Many Thanks, I hope I havent confused you!
Kirsty

You are probably better off getting permanent health insurance (PHI) for and accident/sickness side and if you want unemployment cover then get a standalone unemployment policy.

Or alternatively, get a mortgage protection policy which covers the first 12 months and a PHI for the period after that.
