Existing Natiowide Mortgae but now want to let

We have an existing Nationwide mortgae which was a good deal on a 5 yr fixed tracker. We now want to let the property but I have been told that Nationwide don't provide buy to let mortgages and on't look to favourably upon letting under a non let mortgage.

Any thoughts on how to approach this as I don't really want to have to change mortgage or provider for obvious reasons.

Thanks:o

  • My friend is also with Nationwide and has let her property out. They gave her permission to do this on a 'conset to let basis'.
  • Thanks - that is really encouraging. I wonder what her story was to gain that consent or if a story was needed at all (hopefully the latter)
  • We`re with Nationwide and have recently let out our house (whilst on a 2 year tracker with them), and we`ve just remortgaged again with them (to their 5 year fixed) and the fact that we were renting out our house made no difference at all.

It was a simple form and I think I had to give details about the insurer and the estate agent we used to find the tenant. We didn`t have to give details about the tenant or how much we were charging for rent etc.

    Hope that helps.
  • That's a great help. Many thanks, I will give them a call feeling a lot more confident.
    Cheers,
