Would you be able to set up one of the bills address in his name. With his permission of course?

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Just got back from a short holiday and I've got my letter - wahheeyyy!!
    Thanks for this one.
I did take out a policy in my wife's name but it came in after the 11:00 terms change so didn't qualify - cancelled it. Happy with my £100 and cashback too though.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat :D
  • Both my Oh and I got our letters today - will be cashing them in as soon as pos.

Now just waiting for the Quidco to land before cancelling.:D

No wonder the Post Office is in such a mess when they give money away like this!

Make him pay your bills for a month :D

Maybe you could try taking both forms of ID and just say hes moved address since?

Unfortunately I don't think he will go for that! And I was hoping to just present him with the £100 and the application form for the ISA!

What I might do is take both passports (I can get his without him knowing) and a utility bill in my name and address and just explain to the cashier that all the bills are in my name (as they are!) It can't be that unusual for all the bills to be in one name only can it? I was kinda hoping that they would send cheques but I suppose this way some people might 'forget' to take their letters to the post office to get their money (they obviously don't frequent this site!!)

That would be a bit tricky as I am a single mum who lives on her own and my boyfriend is a single dad who lives on his own! I really do not want his name financially linked to me or my house at the moment, one of the reasons being that he has debt and being financially linked to him before he has sorted it out (hence the 'surprise' ISA and £100 to go in it!) would be foolish at this stage as I am going to have to remortgage my house in order to pay off my ex and I think being financially linked would cause problems as he has CCJs etc. Also, how would I explain things to benefits agency - yes I am single mum who lives alone with my kids, I just put one of my utility bills in my boyfriends name in order to exploit a post office loophole!! Don't think they would quite understand somehow and would think I was pulling a fast one, which im not as my boyfriend lives over 200 miles away and we only see each other every other weekend due to children and work etc!;)

Letter came this morning - I discovered it when I called home at lunchtime. Promptly took it to the post office on the way back to work with a utility bill and my passport (just in case). They didn't even question the "Over 50" bit on the letter (despite me being 24 and looking younger!) he even put my date of birth in to the system to confirm my ID.

I was most amused when he gave me my £100 and said "Thanks for choosing the Post Office". No, no, my postal friend - thank YOU. :rotfl:

Thanks - we are 30 and 24 and wanted to check if this was ok or not. Might go in at a busy time though, so they don't have much time to check! When's the busiest time at a Post Office?

They will accept a bank statement instead of a utility bill - that's all I took with me. Yes they ask for your DOB as proof of identification. They are not bothered about the Over 50's part.
  • hope mine arrives today or i'll need to phone and chase it up
