 Has anyone got any advice on the following please?
My partner was made redundant and we could not pay the mortgage so we contacted the mortgage company who said we could pay the minimum payment but would have to pay the rest back. Partner has now got a job and we have paid the last months payment but are still in arrears of £900 (we only missed one month) we are now being hassled to pay the arrears by the mortgage company today we had 3 phone calls does anyone have any advice, we dont really want to get another loan to cover the payment but we dont want it to be classed as a default.

Dear Jinxy
I've had something simular happen to me (more than once) the 1st time I worked out a payment plan and sent it into my mortage lenders and they accepted this. The second time I made a payment to bring the amount owed under one months arreas and then submitted a payment plan to the arrears department instructing them that I would setup a standing order to ensoure that the payments were made this was accept.
I am not sure if this approach is for everyone but it worked for me and may do for U just ensure that you are comfortable with the level of payments before submitting to your Mortgage :enders/Arreasr department.
It sounds like they are being unreasonable especailly as you have only missed on month I missed 2 myself on both accounts.
Hope this helps.0 -

There is. it's the lenders collection teams. Irrespective of whether it is Nationwide or Preferred, payment plans, budget planners are all worked out into fine detail.
When people get into mortgage arrears, the last thing a lender wants to do is hassle people and force repo. If a clients faces a judge for the first time this is a reasonable time to go through incomings and outgoings and for a judge, not you or me, to decide what is reasonable with regard to making additional payments.I am a Mortgage Adviser

May I ask what you do not understand? Baiscally sort it out with the lnder first, if they then are unhelpful and it goes to court it is genrally at this stage everyone knows who has to pay and what. I was mearly trying to say this process is very complicated and not done literaaly on a whim.I am a Mortgage Adviser
