Remortgage Worry (Contd...)

Hi, this may be moved but it continues on from my query about my forthcoming remortgage when herbiesjp advised that I should get a copy of my credit report. I have a copy from Equifax and Experian and wondered how I go about sorting it out. Most items on it are over 6 years old and others are ongoing (mortgage, phone etc.), with no arrears. As I'll be 3 years out of my Trust Deed in November and applying for a mortgage, I'd like to get it cleaned up. I was told by a friend that I have to write to all the companies on the report and send them proof of the date I was discharged from my Trust Deed. Is this correct? What happens then? Do I get a 'clean' copy of my report? How long does it take for my report to be amended? Sorry; questions, questions, but I really am clueless as to what to do now... Maybe someone could direct me to a thread on this??? Much appreciated. Thanks.
