Yes interested in getting one myself also... also for a Peugeot (306). Dunno where to look for best deals, have tried Iceman and Halfords and flicked through Argos. Anyone know anywhere for a good deal... maybe even on the net?

Cheapest decent branded one I've seen is the Blaupunkt Valencia (RDS, MP3, can take CD changer or aux-in cable for DAP) at £89.99 inc VAT and delivery from Bluespot: http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/valencia.asp

Maplin do a Shark RDS/MP3 head unit (currently on offer) for £59.99 inc VAT and delivery:

It's the physical unit (ie. the radio body) that slots in to your dashboard.

I think it's referred to in this way since it can control numerous other pieces of A/V equipment hidden away within the car ie. boot CD-changer, amp, sat-nav etc.

Thanks for the info. I was having visions of it being just a facia or something.

I might buy the Maplins 'Shark' one as it seems cheap. Equivalent to what I've seen on eBay anyway. The only worry I have is regarding fitting the unit. I'm hoping it would just slot in where the existing one is. I have a 1996 VW Golf which I think has a standard radio/cassette unit in it already. Anybody have any experience in this area?
  • Ok, I've just bought the £60 Maplin Shark mp3 device. I believe my car has 'ISO connectors' so it should work fine.

It does seem a cracking idea, having a car cd player that can play a data disc full of mp3s. Since I'm not massively bothered about sound quality (it's reletively noisey inside my VW Golf compared to other, newer cars) I can probably set the mp3 compression to 96kpbs and get nearly 1000 minutes of audio on one disc... :-)

    Hope it works!

How did you get it for that price? On their website it's listed at £161.99! See here.
